Nach
einer langen Nacht mit interessanten und humorvollen Gesprächen mit Jig
und Kushal des Hotel Sangaylay Palace, waren wir doch schon früh wach. Nachdem
wir uns und unser Gepäck reisebereit gemacht hatten, unternahmen wir nochmals
einen Spaziergang der Fort Road entlang Richtung Zentrum um ein gemütliches
Café mit echtem Espresso zu suchen... all das fanden wir im Bon Appetit
Restaurant!
After a long night with interesting and humorous talks with Jig and Kushal of the Hotel Sangaylay Palace, we woke up quite early. After having prepared ourselves and our luggage for departure, we took another walk along the Fort Road towards the center to find a cozy café with real espresso... all this we found at the Bon Appetit Restaurant!

Dann
verabschiedeten wir uns von unseren neuen Freunden : ( und machten uns kurz nach
10 Uhr auf Richtung Kargil. Mit frisch gewaschenem Auto, ausgeruhtem Rinku
und Kamal fuhren wir auf der Strasse der Buddhistenklöster und besuchten
das von Alchi und Lamayuru aus dem 11. Jahrhundert. Im kleinen Kloster von
Alchi leben noch 6 Mönche, es ist absolut sehenswert mit seinen alten
Schnitzereien und Statuen. Im Kloster Lamayuru leben ca. 80 Mönche und
jedermann kriegt einen Teller zu essen, wenn er will.
Then it was time to say goodbye to our new friends: ( and heading for Kargil shortly after 10 am. With a freshly washed car, rested Rinku and Kamal we continued our trip on the street of Buddhist monasteries and visited Alchi and Lamayuru from the 11th century. In the small monastery of Alchi still 6 monks are living , it is absolutely worth seeing with its old carvings and statues. In Lamayuru monastery live about 80 monks and everyone gets a plate to eat if he whishes.

Danach
ging es mit leichtem Regen über 2 Pässe: Fatu La (4091 m) und Namika
La (3718 m). In Mulbekh statteten wir dem Minikloster mit seiner Buddha-Felsrelief
aus dem 7. Jahrhundert einen kurzen Besuch ab – und nun verliessen wir
das buddhistische Gebiet und traten ins muslimische ein...
With light rain we drove over 2 passes: Fatu La (4091 m) and Namika La (3718 m). In Mulbekh, we paid a short visit to the mini monastery and its Buddha-relief - and now we left the Buddhist area and entered the Muslim...

Um 18:30
Uhr erreichten wir Kargil, die zweitgrösste und bedeutende Handelsstadt nach
Leh in Ladakh auf 2600 m. Das erste Hotel, das wir anpeilten, nahm uns gerne
auf und so blieben nach total 220 km für die Nacht im Hotel Siachen.
Bevor wir
uns zum Abendessen ins Hotelrestaurant begaben, erhielten wir Besuch von
Praveen und Gowssik, die wir im Shanti Stupa kennen gelernt hatten und die fast
dieselbe Route (inkl. Nubra Valley) wie wir verfolgten. Da auch in Kargil das
Internet nicht fantastisch war, beschloss ich mich meine Arbeit zu vertagen und
mich dafür etwas früher ins Bett zu legen...

At 6:30 pm we reached
Kargil, the second largest and important trading city after Leh in Ladakh at
2600 m. The first hotel, which we aimed, accepted us gladly and so we stayed at
the Hotel Siachen for the night after a total of 220 km.
Before we went for dinner
at the hotel restaurant, we got a visit from Praveen and Gowssik, whom we met
in Shanti Stupa and who followed almost the same route (including Nubra Valley)
as we did. Since the internet was not really fantastic in Kargil, I decided once
again to postpone my work and go to bed a bit earlier…
