Für einmal reise ich mit einer Freundin… Bea war schon zweimal in Indien, aber noch nie in Ladakh, das ist der nördlichste Teil von Indien im Himalaya…

 

For once I am travelling with a friend... Bea has been to India twice before, but never in Ladakh, the northernmost part of India in the Himalayas...

Bea, Flughafen / Airport Zürich-Kloten

Kurz vor 10 Uhr holten Bea und ihr Freund Martin mich ab und 45 Minuten später fuhren wir im Flughafen Zürich-Kloten vor. Wie üblich in den Sommerferien, war die Check-in Halle voller als voll! Da wir am andern Ende der Halle bei den Business Schaltern anstehen mussten, fragte ich nett an einem dieser Schalter, ob wir dort einchecken dürfen, denn die waren alle fast leer - und auch dieses Mal, wie schon so oft, klappte es! Nun hatten wir sogar noch gediegen Zeit für ein Glas Champagner zur Einstimmung! : )

Shortly before 10 am Bea and her friend Martin picked me up and 45 minutes later we drove up to Zurich-Kloten Airport. As usual in the summer holidays, the check-in hall was fuller than full! Since we had to wait at the other side of the hall near the business desks, I asked nicely at one of those counters, if we are allowed to check in there, because they were all almost empty - and also this time, as so many times before, it worked out! Now we even had time for a glass of champagne to set the mood! : )

Mit 30 Minuten Verspätung hob die SWISS Maschine um 13:10 Uhr in Zürich ab. Eine zusätzliche Verspätung von mindestens 40 Minuten war bereits angekündigt, weil der Luftraum über Pakistan momentan geschlossen ist… Wir hatten beim online Check-in super Sitzplätze mit viel Beinfreiheit ergattert und richteten es uns richtig gemütlich ein. Die Zeit verging wie im Flug… wir hatten so viel zum Austauschen, dass wir nicht mal unsere Bordcomputer einschalteten.

 

Um 0:45 Uhr Ortszeit (+3,5 h) landeten wir in New Delhi. Die Zollformalitäten für Touristen waren sehr schnell durchlaufen (man braucht übrigens ein Visum, das man online beantragen kann), wir holten unsere Koffer und suchten unseren Chauffeur zum Hotel…

 

So um 2 Uhr kamen wir im Hotel Prime Balaji Deluxe an, wo wir mit Wasser und Snacks beschenkt wurden. Um 3:30 Uhr schaute ich das letzte Mal auf die Uhr bevor ich zufrieden eindöste.

With a delay of 30 minutes, the SWISS aircraft took off from Zurich at 1:10 pm. An additional delay of at least 40 minutes had already been announced, because the airspace over Pakistan is currently closed... When checking in online we managed to grab superb seats with plenty of legroom and made ourselves comfortable. Time flew by... we had so much to exchange that we not even turned on our on-board computers.

 

At 0:45 am local time (+3.5 h) we landed in New Delhi. The customs formalities for tourists were passed very quickly (by the way, you need a visa, which you can apply online), we collected our bags and looked for our shuttle service to the hotel...

 

Around 2 am we arrived at the hotel Prime Balaji Deluxe, where we were given water and snacks. At 3:30 am I last checked the time before I dozed off contentedly.
